Breathify Performance Testing

Tested air purification, backed by data

At such an affordable cost, you might wonder if Breathify air purifiers actually work. We conducted real tests in real rooms, (not in lab test conditions) so that we can see the real results of the purifiers for you to actually breathe pure air in real life conditions.

Let’s first understand the basics

1. AQI

AQI or Air Quality Index is the index of measuring air pollution. It is a culmination of all types of particles in the air, including PM2.5 and PM 10.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the range of AQI is 0 – 999 where 0 is negligible air pollution and 999 is the highest that can be measured so far. The US EPA uses the AQI till 500 whereas Asian countries use a higher range. The safety standards, however, remain the same globally. An AQI level of 100 or below is within safe measures. A level higher than 100 is a threat to sensitive people and a reading of 300 or above is taken as an emergency. Safe Breathing standards are below 50.

2. PM 2.5

PM 2.5 are a group of those particles of size 2.5 microns and less. 1 micron, is one metre to the power 10*-6. Thats one billionth of a metre. The PM 2.5 is measured in micrograms per cubic metre (μg/m³) (These particles are not visible to the naked eye and include viruses, bacteria, smoke, pollen and mold. To get an idea of what PM 2.5 looks like, consider this image:

3. How do we measure these particles?

With Kaiterra LaserEGG 2 Laser Particle Sensor

This device is used to measure real time air quality throughout the tests. It is a smart Air Quality Monitor which measures the AQI (Air Quality Index), PM 2.5 levels, levels of particulate more than 0.3 microns and data is collected while performing tests. This data is accurate and testing is done in a room of 30 sq metres, the average size of a large room.

Now, Question:

How clean is the air coming out of Breathify Air Purifiers?

Breathify uses true H-13 Glass HEPA filters for proper filtration of the air which captures 99.97% of particles equal to or greater than size of 0.3 microns (1 micron = 0.000001 metre). All testing is done in a real life room and measured with the device LaserEGG 2, a smart air quality monitor. The room used for testing is 30 sq. metres with doors and windows shut for the entire time of the testing. For this test, we used Breathify Air BR02AIR Model. The purifier was kept in one corner and the monitor in the other opposite corner.

The results are graphed below:

AQI Performance Test | Breathify
Brings AQI down from 500 to below 20 in 2 hours
AQI Performance Test | Breathify
Brings PM 2.5 down from 600 to below 10 in 2 hours
AQI Performance Test | Breathify
Brings PM 10 down from 55000 to below 50 in 2 hours
AQI Performance Test | Breathify
Brings the AQI and PM 2.5 below 20 in 2 hours and then maintains.
AQI Performance Test | Breathify
Brings the AQI and PM 2.5 below 20 rapidly.

Conclusion:

Yes, the air coming out of Breathify Air Purifiers is very clean and they are effective in the entire room, despite the affordable price.
